Description
The history of Lanzarote is linked to its volcanoes. Almost 300 years ago, the land opened in Timanfaya, today National Park, and the flames and lava streams sprouted for more than ten days.
A mountain, between nine and ten o'clock at night, emerged from the very bosom of the firm and its appearance was only the prelude to a few others. That ‘catastrophe’ narrated by the chronicles of the time changed the morphology of an island that has since been associated with its colossal natural chimneys. However, lava emissions began on Lanzarote 11 million years ago.
